Whew! I've been working the past few nights on this new pattern while taking this Skillshare class by Elizabeth Olwen. I learned SO MUCH in this class. I wanted to try my hand at a dense, seamless pattern with lots of handmade elements. The hardest part is getting the flow and balance of each element playing off of each other while thinking of how it will repeat as a whole. I still have more practice to do, but I'm really happy with how much more comfortable I've gotten with the process. I feel so empowered by just one hour long class (though the entire design process took me at least few hours) and I'm excited to keep working on these!
For next week, I'm going to take the same botanical elements I made for this week and create a new pattern that is less dense, and with a different feel and color palette. I'm also going to try to keep the Pattern Play posts on Thursdays.
And, I've got a free desktop wallpaper for you! You can save the last image below to use as your desktop image if you'd like.
